How To Use (Chap 3 Part 3)

 today we still discussing about procedure text, but different this time we will discuss "how to use"


DEFINITION

Text procedure is text that gives us orders or instructions to do something. Usually this type of text begins with the sentence “How to…”, for example “How to use camera” or “How to use a magic jar”. Procedure Text is found in many cookbooks and manuals.

The purpose of a procedure text is to explain how something is made, done or used through successive steps (to show how something is made/used/done through a sequence of steps).


STRUCTURE

Structure of the procedure text is : 


1. Goal/Aim: contains the purpose and objectives of the relevant procedure text.

2. Materials: contains the materials needed to perform the stages of a text procedure.

3. Steps: a list of sequential steps to complete the text procedure steps.

4. Result: the result of the steps that have been taken.\


TYPE

1. Procedure text that displays how to operate/use something. For example how to use camera, how to use rice cooker.

2. Procedure text that provides instructions in performing certain activities. For example how to use computer , how to use  a camera

3. Procedure text related to tips on living life. For example how to be successful in life, how to make yourself happy.


EXAMPLE : 

                                                           HOW TO USE MAGIC JAR



●Wash the rice in a separate bowl.
●Then, place the washed rice in the cooker pan.
●Add water into the pan. Markings inside the pan show require amounts of water.
●Be sure to wipe dry the outside of the pan. Then, place the pan into the body and turn it slightly to the right and left until it seats properly.
●Close the outer lid. Make sure to lock properly until it clicks.
●Press the switch and the cooking process has started.
●Plug the cord to AC outlet. The "WARM" lamp will turn on.
●After the switch pops up, leave the lid closed for at least 15 minutes to steam rice.
●When rice is done the switch will pop up and "WARM" lamp lights to show that the rice . warmer function is working.
